Your host to the finest in community theater!
If you love theatre but are looking for something a little different, The Lakeside Players may be just the ticket. The community theater company performs original audience-participation mystery shows and mainstage productions at a variety of venues around the Poconos, including the Waterfront at Silver Birches, Woodloch Springs, Lakeville Community Hall (our "home" theater for mainstage productions), and our newest venue, Hotel Anthracite in Carbondale, PA. We also perform for nonprofit organizations, such as senior centers, nursing homes, and churches.
Founded in 1999 by Marylou Ambrose and Tony Schwartz, The Lakeside Players celebrated their 20th anniversary in the spring of 2019. During the last 20 years, the Company has mounted dozens of mainstage productions by other playwrights, dozens of mystery shows penned by Ambrose and Schwartz, and seven original full length two-act plays penned by Ambrose and Schwartz, five comedies and two thrillers.
Our next event is our brand new original two-act comedy thriller, "Eat your Words" by Marylou Ambrose and Tony Schwartz. Scroll down for exact dates and times and how you can purchase tickets online!

At a cozy house in the English countryside, five people in a writers’ group meet for a weekend writing marathon, hoping to complete a short story and enter it in a contest. What could be more idyllic? But amid the tea and cakes and conversation, the plumbing breaks, and it’s all downhill after that. Members begin arguing, tensions and suspicions rise, and a 30-year-old mystery is literally unearthed. Enter an intimidating plumber who works round the clock, and the writers find themselves entangled in a murder mystery that’s definitely worth writing about. But is it worth dying over?
